We are Open- minded!

As an International Baccalaureate School we work to develop the IB Learner Profile.

As the school year begins, we are focused on being open- minded. IBO provides the following definition, and we are exploring, demonstrating and practicing every day.

We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.

We all fit under a big umbrella and all are welcome. After reading The Big Umbrella, First Grade illustrators drew a self-portrait and added it this chart to show we are open-minded and that helps us with the Essential Agreement: Be Inclusive.

We are open- minded in MYP math as we try a variety of strtegies. Open-minded learners are curious about other people and their ideas and culture. They recognize and celebrate differences and work to include others.

In 8th Grade Design, students are exploring Identity and Civic Identity as they think about ways they can help their community. They “took a stand” on a variety of ideas and opinions to inspire their thinking and use an open mind to hear the variety of opinions in the room.

Inclusive and open- minded communities think together, work together and make agreements that make the school a great place to learn.

Open minds in Grade 7 found connections to each other and celebrated uniqueness. They also spent time thinking about what makes a mathematician as they prepare for maths this year.

Mrs Dailey’s class added beautiful leaves to this tree and then decided to use their creativity and open minds to work together to add animals and flowers. We can’t wait to see what they think of next.

Who we are

In these first weeks of school, we have been creating pieces that show our identity through writing self-portrait and photos. These displays of each unique member of our community help build an inclusive and open- minded culture
